Kanto Lampo Waterfal Hidden Gem in Gianyar, Bali

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is a large waterfall located in the Gianyar region of Bali, not far from Ubud.

This Ubud waterfall has already been spotted by the Instagram crowds, but don’t let that stop you! It’s super photogenic, and if you arrive at the right time, you may still be able to avoid the crowds.
This guide will tell you how to get there and what you need to know before you go!

Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Kanto Lampo is a beautiful waterfall that descends from the rocks into a shallow natural pool in the river.

The water is quite shallow for children (when we were there in August, it was knee-high), but if you go a little upstream, it becomes deeper (high chest).

Kanto Lampo has become famous and there are a lot of people looking for photos, but it’s still not as busy as the Tegenungan Waterfall.

Just watch your steps inside and outside the water as the rocks can be very slippery. There is a local who takes great photos for a tip (10 km is fine).

Allegedly, Kanto Lampo got its name from an exotic fruit that is rare in the area, but we didn’t see any during our visit.

If you explore the area a little more, there are strange rock sculptures, a small bat cave and a second viewpoint on the other side of the river, where you can see the waterfall from above.

All in all, I would say that this is one of the best waterfalls in Bali!

Best travel time

This place has become very popular for creating Instagram photos, etc., so you may have to wait in line for photos.

If you want to avoid crowds, the best time to visit Kanto Lampo is in the morning (before 10 am) or possibly in the after afternoon.

How To Get There

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is located in Gianyar, just 20 minutes from Ubud. If you are coming from Canggu or Kuta, the journey will take about 1 hour.

Is Kanto Lampo Open/ Closed?

Kanto Lampo has opened its doors to visitors again since October 15, 2023! It was temporarily closed in September due to a landslide, but is now open again as usual.

Bali Private Driver And Motorbike Rental

If you want to explore Bali comfortably and safely by private car with an English-speaking driver, my best recommendation would be GetYourGuide.

Prices start from 700,000 rupiah for a full day trip and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) for 1-5 passengers. This is the total price for the entire car + driver + gasoline! This is a good deal. They also offer affordable hotel transfers from the airport.

If you prefer to travel by motorcycle, you have it too. Your scooter rental starts at 140,000 rupiah and includes a helmet, a raincoat and free shipping to the South Bali region.

We have used GetYourGuide for many tours and activities around the world, and they are great! Highly recommended.
