Goa Raja Waterfall in Bali Explore the King Cave Falls

The Goa Raja Waterfall is a newly discovered hidden gem in the east of Bali, not far from the famous Tukad Cepung Waterfall.

This place is easily accessible from Ubud and has a large waterfall in a cave, as the name suggests (Goa Raja means “royal cave” in Indonesian).

There is even a small natural pool for swimming. Overall, we actually liked this waterfall better than Tukad Cepung, and of course there were much fewer tourists.
This guide will tell you how to get there and what you need to know before you go!

Goa Raja Waterfall-What To Expect

The hike to the waterfall is short and only takes about 15 minutes if you drive through a moss-green gorge.

The route starts steeply (downhill) in the first few minutes and then stabilizes for the rest of the ride.

The last time we did this hike, the trail was damaged in some places and some bamboo bridges were broken, but hopefully these will be repaired soon.

You have to cross a stream at one point and the rocks can be slippery, but the stream is pretty shallow even in the rainy season.

In the end, you will be rewarded with a large cave, a waterfall and a natural pool for swimming! There is even a bamboo hut for changing clothes.

Entrance fee

From 2024, an entrance fee of 25,000 rupiah will be charged.

When To Visit

The best time to visit this waterfall seems to be a month outside the dry season, which lasts from May to November.

When we did this hike for the first time in August, there was no waterfall and the locals said it had been diverted to irrigate the rice fields. We came back in February and the waterfall was perfect!

How To Get There

The Goa Raja Waterfall is located in the Bangli region of eastern Bali.

It is about 45 minutes from Ubud or Sidemen, and you can easily combine it with the Tukad Cepung Waterfall, as the two spots are only a few minutes away from each other!

The best way to get there is to rent a scooter or rent a private car with a driver (both can be booked online).

Bali Private Driver And Motorbike Rental

If you want to explore Bali comfortably and safely by private car with an English-speaking driver, my best recommendation would be GetYourGuide.

Prices start from 700,000 rupiah for a full day trip and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) for 1-5 passengers. This is the total price for the entire car + driver + gasoline! This is a good deal. They also offer affordable hotel transfers from the airport.

If you prefer to travel by motorcycle, you have it too. Your scooter rental starts at 140,000 rupiah and includes a helmet, a raincoat and free shipping to the South Bali region.

We have used GetYourGuide for many tours and activities around the world, and they are great! Highly recommended.
