The Tegenungan Waterfall is probably the busiest and most famous waterfall in Bali and is very easy to reach from Ubud or Sanur.
You can swim in the pool under the waterfalls (if you are careful), and there are a few restaurants where you can sit and eat while enjoying the view.
I would not recommend Tegenungan if you are looking for a secret waterfall without crowds, but it is still worth a visit just because of the picturesque view!
This guide will tell you how to get there and what you need to know before you go!
Tegenungan Waterfall: What to Expect
The Tegenungan Waterfall (also known as “Air Terjun Blangsinga” in Indonesian) is located deep in a steep gorge in the jungle.
It only takes about 15 minutes to walk down the steps to the waterfall, but the way back is a good workout with a lot of moisture and uneven stone steps (the steps feel like they were made for giants!).
The waterfall is about 30 meters high, and you can swim in the pool under the waterfalls. Sometimes on a sunny day you can even see a big rainbow.
Restaurants & Development
Just a warning-you will not find peace or tranquility here. The Tegenungan Waterfall is very overdeveloped and full of shops, restaurants and sticky photo accessories. It’s becoming a bit of a tourist trap.
Most of the photos of the Tegenungan waterfall in this guide were taken before it was overrun by tourists and all new buildings.
I hope that someone in Bali will step in and give this place the cleaning and preservation it deserves.but in the meantime, that’s what it is.
The good side is that it is one of the easiest waterfalls to reach in Bali and the scenery is always beautiful!
When To Visit
The best time to travel is in the early morning, before the crowd arrives. Tegenungan is very crowded at noon.
The waterfall is especially impressive during and after the rainy season, when it turns into a large waterfall in two stages.
However, if you leave in the middle of the rainy season (or after a heavy downpour), the water may instead look like brown chocolate.
This entrance fee for the Tegenungan waterfall is actual from 2024, but the cost seems to be increasing every year, as it is becoming such a popular place in Bali.
How To Get There
The Tegenungan Waterfall is located in the Sukawati District of Bali, Indonesia.
It is located halfway between Sanur and Ubud and you can get there from one of these places in just 20-30 minutes. It is also quite easy to take a tegenungan waterfall tour from other parts of Bali.

Bali Private Driver And Motorbike Rental
If you want to explore Bali comfortably and safely by private car with an English-speaking driver, my best recommendation would be GetYourGuide.
Prices start from 700,000 rupiah for a full day trip and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) for 1-5 passengers. This is the total price for the entire car + driver + gasoline! This is a good deal. They also offer affordable hotel transfers from the airport.
If you prefer to travel by motorcycle, you have it too. Your scooter rental starts at 140,000 rupiah and includes a helmet, a raincoat and free shipping to the South Bali region.
We have used GetYourGuide for many tours and activities around the world, and they are great! Highly recommended.
